Bujin-Marishiten 01
Marishi-ten, Queen of Heaven, was also known as the Goddess of
the Sun and the Moon. She was adopted by the Bujin (Samurai) in the 8th Century
as their protector goddess and patron.
She was purported to enable the Bujin warrior to achieve a
more heightened spiritual level. Her gift gave the warrior a lost of interest in
life or death during battle, thus allowing the warrior to transcend the mind of
the limits of mortality. This transcendence empowered them to be better
warriors.
