Nudity does not constitute pornography.

Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart in 1964...."I can't define pornography, but I know it when I see it."

This has to be one of the most asinine comments I have ever heard from a supposedly educated man.  If you can't define it, then how can you "know it when you see it'?   Well, I can define pornography...I know it when I see it, and my art does not fall into this category.

" por-nog-ra-phy"  noun;    Written, graphic, or other forms of communication intended to excite lascivious feelings.  Material which depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement.   Obscene literature, art, or photography, especially that having little or no artistic merit.

[From Greek;  pornographos,  writing about prostitutes]

The dictionary definition of pornography may seem vague, but it is not without merit if simple logic and common sense (which really isn't so common) are applied.  Let's face it,  there are people in this world who find some of the strangest things sexually erotic or stimulating, or they find anything related to human nudity offensive (therapy might help).  We're all nude beneath our clothes.  Personally, I find that orthodox religious beliefs have warped the concept of the beauty of the human body portrayed nude.  There is a difference between being nude and being naked.  Nude is powerful and emotional.....naked is vulnerability or solicitation.   In lieu of this, any sexual reactions to my work are the sole responsibility of the viewer...you create and own your own fantasies.

As the old saying goes..."Art is in the eye of the beholder."

My works are visual illustrations of my heterodox beliefs and philosophy utilizing the powerful silent language of the human body...sensuality.   Sensuality is not sexuality.  They are two completely different concepts.

We've all experienced moments in our lives when we look in the mirror and say to ourselves, "Damn I look good today!".  This is sensuality...feeling good about ourselves.  It is a state of mind unique to the individual, not a sexual experience.  Yes my work is voyeuristic, but art by its' very nature is voyeuristic since you are the viewer and not the participant in the moment.

I do not advocate the true sense of pornography, (this is inclusive of sites selling sex toys, sex paraphernalia, or sites denigrating women or men in a sexual nature) nor will I support or endorse it on my web site.  If you see my banners on any web sites containing pornography, please send an e-mail  with the URL of the site it is listed on.
